The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a dedicated In-School Suspension Teacher for the 2024-2025 academic school year.
Brief Description of Position:
The In School Suspension staff member will provide a structured learning environment for those students who are removed from the traditional classroom due to violation(s) of the school discipline guidelines and/or code of conduct. The In School Suspension program is designed to assist students with developing self-management/regulation skills and strategies to improve academic/behavioral performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education
- Valid secondary Missouri teacher certificate (Any content area)
- Completion of successful university student teaching
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skills in human relations and conflict resolution.
- Must be able to handle and react to potential volatile situations and take appropriate action in a professional manner
- Knowledge of teaching techniques that meet the needs of a diverse student population
- Skilled in computer word processing, spreadsheets, and Google systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Missouri Certification: Math, ELA, Social Studies, Science, or Special Education
- Working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities
- Five years of previous teaching experience
