The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a part-time Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) instructor for the Adult Education in Cape Girardeau Adult Learning Center for the 2024-25 academic year.
Terms of Employment: 7-14 hours per week, 10 months per year. This position is dependent upon available grant funding.
The Adult Education & Literacy Instructor is responsible for facilitating meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- AEL certification or ability to complete certification within three (3) months of hire
- Experience working with diverse population with varying beliefs
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage a multi-level adult classroom
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Drive.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adult education or secondary education teaching experience with at risk students
- Willingness to interact with the community at large in promoting program
