The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a dedicated Social Studies Teacher for Terry K. Kitchen Junior High School for the 2024-25 academic year.
The social studies teacher is responsible for working to develop in each student an appreciation of world-wide ideals and cultural heritage and to encourage students to develop sound opinions based on the study of facts concerning operation of social, political and economic systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Social Studies, Grades 5-9
- Preference given to candidates with a Master’s Degree in Social Studies in order to teach dual-credit courses as adjunct university faculty and/or Advanced Placement courses in conjunction with the College Board
- Skilled in human relations, leadership and conflict management
- Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of all students
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of all students
- Proficiency in computer hardware and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, multimedia presentations, e-mail, internet, digital media and instructional delivery systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities
