The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a dedicated School Resource Officer for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Terms of Employment: 11-month contract; 220 days
The School Resource Officer will conduct highly responsible law enforcement work under general direction to create and maintain a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment for students, staff, and patrons. Foster an efficient and cohesive program that will build a positive relationship between law enforcement officers and the youth of our community in addition to reducing crime committed by juveniles and young adults.
Required Qualifications:
- Commissioned as a law enforcement officer
- Ability to become commissioned through the Cape Girardeau Police Department
- 2 years experience as a law enforcement officer
- Broad based knowledge of the court system and presentation of evidence in court proceedings
- Broad based knowledge regarding youth, social issues and the criminal justice system
- Knowledge of city, state and federal laws
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three of more years as a law enforcement office
- Previous experience as an SRO
- School Resource Officer Certification
- Working knowledge of CrisisGo
