The School District of Cape Girardeau is seeking a motivated full-time Special Education Cross-Categorical teacher for a functional classroom at the Terry W. Kitchen Junior High School for the 2024-25 academic year.

 

Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Special Services, The Cross-Categorical Teacher will be responsible for creating a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of pupils developmentally delayed.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
• Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Mild/Moderate: Cross Categorical, K-12.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Skills in human relations, leadership and conflict management
• Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students
• Demonstrate skills in computer word processing, spreadsheets and data bases
• Experience in formative assessments, cooperative learning techniques, and data analysis
• Demonstrate the ability to work with diverse and multicultural populations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities
• Experience in formative assessments, cooperative learning techniques, and data analysis
• Prior experience working with special needs children
